FP7030-K9 Hardware Identity

FP7030-K9 is a physical entry classic NGIPS appliance in the Cisco FirePOWER 7000 Series. It is security hardware, not an Ethernet switch and not a software-only entitlement. Cisco documents it as a 1U fixed-port chassis with 250 Mbps IPS throughput in Cisco's model table.

Quarter-gigabit sensor placement

Use measured traffic to decide whether the 250-Mbps inspection tier belongs on a branch aggregation link, a selected server segment or a laboratory path. Document excluded traffic and the consequence of bypassing it. Acceptance should reproduce a peak event burst instead of relying on an idle link test.

Policy portability check

Export the intrusion policy, network variables, discovery settings and event-routing configuration in a form that can be rebuilt on a supported replacement. Confirm the management version that last supports this device and keep the migration owner, maintenance window and fallback cabling with the asset record.

Policy conversion

Export network variables, access control, intrusion settings, exclusions and event destinations, then map every control to the supported replacement rather than copying an obsolete configuration blindly.

Receiving inspection

Confirm chassis PID, serial, memory, storage, network modules, power supplies, rails and physical condition. Quarantine substitutions until the complete authorized bill of materials is reconciled.

Signature lifecycle

Record the last available intrusion and malware content, the update source and the risk owner for operating without current signatures. Hardware availability does not restore security-content support.

Lifecycle and procurement decision

Cisco records this model as end of support; migration evidence is required. Before purchase or reuse, reconcile the exact serial inventory, software and management compatibility, security-content availability, policy migration and replacement owner. Do not represent an end-of-support platform as a current Cisco-supported security control.
