FP7020-K9 Hardware Identity

FP7020-K9 is a physical entry classic NGIPS appliance in the Cisco FirePOWER 7000 Series. It is security hardware, not an Ethernet switch and not a software-only entitlement. Cisco documents it as a 1U fixed-port chassis with 100 Mbps IPS throughput in Cisco's model table.

Low-bandwidth branch scope

Limit this 100-Mbps appliance to a documented low-volume inspection use case. Capture peak traffic, update traffic, event bursts and expected growth, then set a threshold that removes it from service before policy processing becomes a bottleneck. Port speed must not be confused with inspected throughput.

Single-power risk treatment

Record the power source, spare availability and bypass procedure because this entry chassis does not have the dual-supply characteristic of the 7100 models. Validate policy export and manager compatibility before placement, and retain a replacement appliance or alternate traffic path for the branch.

Optics and media

List each copper, SFP, SR, LR or higher-speed handoff by position and counterpart. Validate reach, fiber type and supported module identity instead of assuming all ports share the same media.

Lifecycle exception

If this retired platform remains in service, record the approved exception, compensating controls, replacement date and security owner. Purchasability in the secondary market is not supportability.

Management compatibility

Verify the last supported device image and the exact management platform release before purchase; a reachable web interface is not proof that policy deployment and event ingestion remain supported.

Lifecycle and procurement decision

Cisco records this model as end of support; continued production use requires a replacement plan. Before purchase or reuse, reconcile the exact serial inventory, software and management compatibility, security-content availability, policy migration and replacement owner. Do not represent an end-of-support platform as a current Cisco-supported security control.
