Use magnetic retention only on a qualified steel surface

EX2300-C-MGNT-MNT is Juniper's magnet mount for an EX2300-C compact switch. Its job is surface retention; it supplies no Ethernet ports, power, Junos software or switch chassis.

Survey the attachment plane

The Juniper mounting procedure calls for a flat ferrous surface at least 2mm thick. Check that paint, curvature, joints, vibration and nearby equipment do not prevent full contact. A stainless, aluminum, composite, plasterboard or thin sheet surface must not be accepted merely because a small test magnet adheres.

Observe the ceiling prohibition

Juniper warns not to use the magnet mount for ceiling installation. Choose a supported on-top or under-surface orientation, account for the pull direction and cable strain, and keep people and equipment outside a possible drop path during placement.

Preserve ventilation and cable service

Plan the switch orientation before the magnetic sheet is positioned. Keep the top ventilation openings clear, route power and network cables without levering the chassis away from the metal, and leave access for console, uplink and grounding work.

Record the kit and surface acceptance

Confirm the exact mount SKU, EX2300-C chassis model, magnet sheet, rubber pads, surface material and thickness, final orientation and clearance. The rack kit is a different order for a different installation method.
