FAP-231G-E exact hardware identity

FAP-231G-E is a Fortinet FortiAP indoor Wi-Fi 6E access point with internal antennas. It provides three 2x2 radios that can be configured for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz or scanning roles, plus an integrated BLE/Zigbee radio.

Antenna-form boundary

The FAP-231G uses four internal Wi-Fi antennas plus the integrated BLE/Zigbee antenna. There is no external Wi-Fi antenna bill of materials for this model. Preserve enclosure orientation, mounting height and post-install RF measurements because the antenna pattern is fixed by placement.

E regional ordering evidence

The final letter is retained as a regional ordering and compliance identifier; this page does not translate it into a country. Associate the E-suffix compliance result with the managed device and repeat the review after any country reassignment.

Integrated-antenna acceptance path

Because the Wi-Fi antennas are internal, this order is accepted through mounting evidence rather than an external antenna list. Record bracket, ceiling or wall position, enclosure orientation, obstructions and post-install measurements. If the surveyed position changes, compare coverage, interference and client behavior before retaining the original RF acceptance.

Management and software boundary

The FortiAP can be managed through supported Fortinet platforms, but compatibility is release-specific. Match FortiAP firmware with the applicable FortiOS or cloud management release and preserve the tested combination.

RF survey reconciliation

Compare installed position, obstructions, channel width, client density and measured coverage with the approved survey. Repeat affected measurements when the final mounting, antenna, ceiling construction or obstructions differ from the design.

Authentication test

Commission association, authentication, address assignment, DNS and application reachability with representative clients. Separate wireless, authentication, DHCP and upstream failures in the acceptance record so a successful ping does not hide a broken user path.

Roaming evidence

Record the movement path, neighboring cells, client type, interruption and management events rather than only a static association. Test entry and exit from the AP cell; a local coverage improvement can still create a poor boundary with neighboring radios.
