ASR1002-5G/K9 Base 5G Order

ASR1002-5G/K9 is Cisco's original ASR 1002 configuration with ESP-5G, AESK9 and 4 GB DRAM. It is the base 5 Gbps K9 order, not an HA, FPI, VPN or firewall Bundle.

Base entitlement boundary

Verify chassis and ESP PIDs, serial, memory, IOS XE and actual forwarding state. AESK9 does not establish IPsec RTU, firewall, Flexible Packet Inspection or high-availability feature rights. The ASR1002-5G-FPI/K9 and ASR1002-5G-HA/K9 records represent separate procurement scopes.

Original chassis facts

Cisco identifies the ASR1002 chassis with four built-in Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, dual power supplies and 4 GB DRAM. Inventory RP, SIP, SPA modules, storage, optics and both PSUs; do not substitute ASR1002-X specifications.

Acceptance test

Capture boot and license output, run forwarding under the intended service mix, validate interface errors and preserve a configuration export. Document any separately installed licenses by PID rather than deriving them from the K9 suffix.

Lifecycle

End of sale was April 29, 2016 and final support ended April 30, 2021. Cisco lists ASR1002X-5G-K9 as the replacement. A deployment now requires explicit software-risk acceptance and a migration owner.
