ASR1002-5G-HA/K9 High-Availability Bundle

ASR1002-5G-HA/K9 is Cisco's original ASR 1002 HA Bundle with ESP-5G, AESK9, a license and 4 GB DRAM. Cisco's exact description does not state that a second router, interfaces or support contract are included.

HA does not prove a complete pair

Reconcile the exact license PID and state, then inventory every chassis, RP, ESP, SIP and interface required by the approved HA design. A model label on one appliance is not evidence of two-node redundancy. Compare ASR1002-5G/K9 for the non-HA base order.

Failover evidence

Document peer serials, software parity, state synchronization, routing adjacency recovery, traffic loss and rollback. Test power, link, control-plane and chassis failure scenarios appropriate to the design; do not claim HA from license presence alone.

Excluded security features

The HA suffix is not the FPI, VPN, firewall or Sec+HA bundle. Any additional rights require their own entitlement records. Preserve AES export eligibility and IOS XE compatibility with the supplied serials.

Unsupported platform

Cisco ended sale April 29, 2016 and support April 30, 2021, naming ASR1002X-5G-HA-K9 as the replacement. Procurement should include configuration backup, spares, security exception and a dated migration plan.
