ASR1002-5G-FPI/K9 Flexible Packet Inspection Bundle

ASR1002-5G-FPI/K9 is Cisco's original 5 Gbps Flexible Packet Inspection Bundle. Cisco specifies ESP5, SASR1R1-AESK9-21SR and FLASR1-FPI-RTU, whose documented scope is NBAR plus FPM.

Prove the FPI entitlement

Reconcile FLASR1-FPI-RTU with the chassis serial and IOS XE license output. Stage representative NBAR classification and Flexible Packet Matching rules, record CPU/memory effect and verify fallback behavior before production use.

FPI is not a firewall Bundle

NBAR and FPM inspection do not establish IPsec VPN, firewall, HA or later AVC/vWAAS rights. The ASR1002-5G/K9 order lacks the FPI entitlement, while ASR1002-5G-HA/K9 addresses a different availability scope.

Hardware boundary

The order uses ESP-5G on the original four-built-in-GE ASR1002 chassis with 4 GB DRAM. Inventory power, RP/SIP/SPA modules, optics and storage from the actual system; do not import ASR1002-X port counts or licenses.

Lifecycle and migration

Cisco ended sale April 29, 2016 and support April 30, 2021. The lifecycle notice points to ASR1002X-AIS-AX, a different AX/AVC/vWAAS architecture, so migration requires feature mapping rather than a like-for-like SKU substitution.
