AIR-AP1815M-S-K9 is Cisco's S-domain Aironet 1815m in the controller-based K9 ordering form. It uses concurrent 2.4 and 5 GHz 2x2 radios with two spatial streams, internal antennas and 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO for indoor dense-building coverage.

S-domain has four published spectrum blocks

Cisco lists 2.412-2.472 GHz with thirteen channels, 5.180-5.320 GHz with eight, 5.500-5.700 GHz with eleven and 5.745-5.825 GHz with five. Confirm destination-country approval and controller enforcement through Cisco's current compliance record; another domain's working configuration is not acceptance evidence.

K9 controller boundary

This exact PID ends in K9, not K9C. Do not advertise factory-default Mobility Express software. Record the target WLC model and release, AP image, configured country, certificate state and successful join. A unit that powers and broadcasts in a lab but cannot join the production controller is not an acceptable spare.

Installation checks for the higher-power 1815m

Survey wall or ceiling location, dense-building penetration and edge-of-cell overlap. The unit has two integrated antennas per band, one PoE Gigabit Ethernet uplink and an RJ-45 console. Inspect bracket and enclosure, then test PoE, uplink, both radios, client association and roaming.

Lifecycle and migration

Cisco lists this exact S-domain PID in the Aironet 1815 end-of-life notice, with last support on 30 April 2027 and Catalyst 9105AX as the migration family. AIR-AP1815M-A-K9 differs in both regulatory spectrum and PID identity.
