AIR-AP1815M-A-K9 Overview

AIR-AP1815M-A-K9 A-Domain Deployment Record

AIR-AP1815M-A-K9 is the A-domain controller-managed version of Cisco's higher-power Aironet 1815m. Its dual concurrent radios support 2x2:2 802.11ac Wave 2, while all four band-specific antennas are integrated into the indoor enclosure.

A-domain exclusion in the upper DFS block

Cisco publishes eleven 2.4 GHz channels at 2.412-2.462 GHz. The 5 GHz table lists eight channels at 5.180-5.320 GHz, eight at 5.500-5.700 GHz while excluding 5.600-5.640 GHz, plus five at 5.745-5.825 GHz. The controller RF plan must preserve the exclusion and match current country approval.

Software and identity reconciliation

The K9 suffix identifies the controller-based order rather than the K9C default Mobility Express package. Before reuse, reconcile chassis label and serial with inventory, capture software image and certificate state, and prove CAPWAP join to the intended controller release. Regulatory identity is not changed by loading another image.

Power and RF acceptance

Validate the single autosensing Gigabit Ethernet uplink, 802.3af/at PoE and both radios under representative client load. Record mounting orientation, bracket, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal measurements, roaming boundary and BLE state. External antenna parts do not belong to this integrated-antenna model.

Retirement planning

Cisco's exact A-domain row directs migration toward the Catalyst 9105AX family. Aironet 1815 support ends on 30 April 2027, so controller compatibility and remaining entitlement should be reviewed together with replacement timing. AIR-AP1815M-S-K9 has a different regulatory channel plan and must remain a separate inventory record.

Official evidence: Cisco A-domain channel, radio and antenna data, Cisco PoE and physical-interface instructions, Cisco exact A-domain lifecycle table and Cisco country approval lookup.
