Identify the DC and TAA order before selecting a firewall

Juniper lists SRX4600-DC-TAA as “SRX4600 SERVICES GATEWAY, DC, TAA” in its official product matrix. This is an SRX4600 security gateway with the DC power designation. The TAA text is part of the manufacturer order description; obtain current origin and contract documentation if procurement requires an attestation. A catalog row alone does not certify a particular delivered unit.

Use the security workload to size the system

The SRX4600 platform is a Junos OS firewall for data-center and campus security. Its role includes security policy enforcement and VPN, rather than an enterprise access switch. Select capacity against the actual inspection profile, packet mix and encrypted traffic. Manufacturer laboratory results for different security services are not interchangeable and are not a promised deployment throughput.

Plan the DC feed and redundancy

The SRX4600 datasheet describes the DC configuration with two 1100 W DC-DC power supplies and 1+1 redundancy. Confirm the supplied power modules, separate feeds, grounding, cable preparation and site installation requirements against the hardware guide and the offered bill of materials. Do not specify the AC power option for this DC order.

Count physical interfaces separately from breakout links

Juniper documents eight dedicated 1/10 GbE interfaces and four 40/100 GbE QSFP28 interfaces. The higher total of up to twenty-four 10 GbE connections includes four-way 10 GbE breakout from each QSFP28 interface; it is not twenty-four independent physical SFP+ sockets. Check supported optics, cable assembly and port-mode configuration for the intended links.

Fit the 1 RU platform into the rack design

SRX4600 is a 1 RU appliance. Evaluate usable rack depth with the DC power-entry modules, cable clearance, cooling and mounting accessories before ordering. The official front-panel drawing identifies the SRX4600 platform and interface layout; it is not a photograph of inventory or evidence of TAA markings on the offered unit.

Specify licenses and acceptance records in the quotation

Ask for the exact SRX4600-DC-TAA label, serial number, DC power-module inventory, software release and support position. Verify subscriptions and security-service rights independently, and list optics, cables and rack parts in the offer. This chassis model alone does not establish a subscription bundle, service term or current transfer eligibility. Acceptance should test the agreed firewall policy, required links and redundant DC-feed behavior.
