Choose the reverse-airflow EX4300 order

The AFI suffix on EX4300-48T-AFI identifies AIR IN cooling. Juniper’s exact shipped-model table places the intake at the rear panel and exhaust at the front panel. This reverses the airflow of EX4300-48T without an AFI suffix. Select this order by the rack’s intake and exhaust arrangement rather than by the shared 48-port faceplate.

Inspect the AIR IN component set

In the original manufacturer configuration, EX4300-48T-AFI ships with two AIR IN fan modules and one AIR IN 350 W AC supply. Juniper identifies the replacement fan as EX4300-FAN-AFI and the 350 W AC AIR IN supply as JPSU-350-AC-AFI-A. All installed fan and power modules must use matching airflow labels. Mixing AIR IN and AIR OUT modules, or AC and DC supplies in one chassis, is prohibited. An offered second supply needs the correct rating and airflow; it is not implied by this listing.

Keep non-PoE access separate from high-speed links

The hardware table assigns this exact T-AFI order 48 copper 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces and zero PoE-enabled ports. Its four QSFP+ sockets support 40GbE and are initially used for Virtual Chassis. Additional SFP/SFP+ uplinks require the optional EX-UM-4X4SFP module, which carries four ports. Specify access-device power requirements, the desired QSFP+ role and optional module contents separately; the AFI suffix changes cooling, not the PoE capability of the T platform.

Procure a legacy AFI unit with a support plan

EX4300-48T-AFI appears explicitly in Juniper’s EX4300 P/T lifecycle group. That group has a 24 June 2022 announcement, a 31 March 2024 last-order milestone and a 31 March 2029 published end-of-support milestone. Use these dates for replacement planning, then verify the actual offered serial, software eligibility and support coverage. Neither a family support date nor an AIR IN label establishes inventory, transferable licensing or an active manufacturer contract.
