Juniper EX4300-48MP

Map the two copper groups before connecting endpoints

The EX4300-48MP has 48 copper access ports in two distinct groups. Twenty-four support 10/100/1000BASE-T; the other twenty-four support 100/1000/2500/5000/10000BASE-T. Place a 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps or 10Gbps endpoint on the multigigabit group and check its link and cabling requirements. The presence of 48 RJ45 positions does not make all 48 multigigabit interfaces.

Budget shared PoE against the exact original power order

Juniper’s exact EX4300-48MP ordering row pairs the switch with a 1400 W AC supply and up to 1100 W aggregate PoE output. The hardware overview describes all 48 access ports as PoE-equipped with up to 95 W per port. That per-port ceiling cannot be multiplied by 48 to obtain the chassis budget: allocate the connected devices within the shared 1100 W reference. Confirm the installed supply, endpoint power mode, software and firmware before accepting a high-power configuration. Supply rating describes the power module, not guaranteed device consumption.

Keep the built-in Virtual Chassis ports out of Ethernet-uplink plans

Four built-in 40Gbps QSFP+ ports on this MP platform are dedicated Virtual Chassis ports. Juniper explicitly distinguishes them from Ethernet-mode uplinks. Use them for the specified chassis interconnection and itemize the separately ordered QSFP+ DAC cables; do not list these four ports as ordinary 40GbE upstream links. The standard 48T/48P platform port behavior must not be transferred to this multigigabit model.

Select one MP-specific optional uplink module

The optional uplink slot accepts EX-UM-4SFPP-MR for four 1Gbps/10Gbps SFP/SFP+ positions, or EX-UM-2QSFP-MR for two QSFP+/QSFP28 positions. Verify the supported 40GbE or 100GbE port configuration for the exact module and Junos release; different manufacturer descriptions do not establish that both ports operate at 100GbE in every release. These are separate module choices rather than four SFP+ and two QSFP28 ports included together. Match the optics and supported Junos release to the selected option. The MP switch uses AC power and front-to-back airflow. Distinguish the complete EX4300-48MP order from EX4300-48MP-S spare chassis, and verify the actual supplied fans, modules, serial support and condition in the quotation.

Check the MP-specific lifecycle before a long-term purchase

Juniper’s TSB109284 explicitly lists EX4300-48MP. The EOL announcement is 29 June 2026; the published last-order date is 29 December 2026, end of hardware failure analysis is 29 December 2027, end of engineering is 29 December 2029 and end of support is 29 December 2031. These are the MP order’s own milestones, rather than dates copied from EX4300-48T or EX4300-48P. The table identifies 25.4 as its last software version; that is a lifecycle ceiling and does not establish the installed or recommended release for a particular unit. Before committing to a deployment extending beyond these milestones, confirm serial-specific support eligibility, software rights, the actual available unit and a supported migration path. A published future support date does not prove an active contract or manufacturer stock.
