Map the twelve FE and twelve GE copper positions

S2730S-S24FT4S-A has two copper-speed groups in the exact 98011309 description. Twelve positions provide 10/100BASE-TX and twelve provide 10/100/1000BASE-T; four GE SFP positions form the optical group. Allocate Gigabit endpoints to the GE copper group rather than treat the 24-port layout as 24 Gigabit copper ports. Huawei marks PoE as not supported. Powered endpoints therefore require a separate, appropriately specified power arrangement.

Select optics together with the cabinet temperature

The long-term range at 0–1800 m is −5°C to +50°C with non-industrial optical modules. Huawei gives −5°C to +55°C for industrial optics whose transmission distance is no more than 10 km, and separately limits operation to −5°C to +45°C when optics with distances of at least 70 km are used. Keep the optic classification and distance on the design record. Above 1800 m, the upper operating temperature decreases by 1°C per 220 m through the stated 5000 m altitude limit. The switch cannot start below 0°C, even though the long-term operating range begins at −5°C.

Check AC input and ventilation as fixed chassis properties

The supply is built in, with no power slots, redundant supply or RPS input supported in the manufacturer table. Rated input is 100–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz; the wider input range is 90–290 V AC at 45–65 Hz. The 32.7 W typical and 47.6 W maximum figures describe switch consumption, not endpoint power delivery. One built-in fan uses intelligent speed adjustment. Air enters from the left and front and exits to the right, so the installation must preserve those ventilation paths.

Allow for protrusions when placing the 1U switch

Basic chassis dimensions are 43.6 × 442 × 220 mm in height, width and depth. Huawei separately gives 227 mm maximum depth measured from the front ports to rear protrusions. Use the maximum body envelope when comparing cabinet depth, and consider cable routing independently. The unpackaged reference weight is 2.45 kg. RJ45 console is present, while a separate Ethernet management port and USB are marked not supported.

Use the dedicated stacking cable entries within their stated scope

In the matched-parts table, SFP+STACK-CU0M5, part 02311VGK, is a 0.5 m dedicated stack cable; SFP+STACK-CU1M5, part 02311VGN, is the 1.5 m line. Both list V200R020C10 and later versions and explicitly say used only for stacking. Their SFP+ names are not evidence of general-purpose 10G service uplinks on this four-GE-SFP chassis. Confirm the intended stack design and supplied software before choosing the cable length.

Keep component revision and installed software on the quote

The first supported version for S2730S-S24FT4S-A is V200R020C10. Huawei warns that component upgrades prevent some units from being downgraded. Its specification remarks identify display system-software information, available in V200R021C00 and later, as a way to check the versions supported by the actual device. Request the delivered release and hardware revision; the first-supported entry alone cannot establish the firmware in a supplier unit. Include optical modules, power cord, condition and accessories as itemised quote lines.
