FAP-221E-V migration checkpoint

FAP-221E-V is a V-domain FortiAP-221E for an approved country of deployment. Its radio hardware follows the 221E platform, while the V suffix remains a separate regulatory and inventory constraint throughout controller or site migration.

Inventory before change

Export the current AP serial, suffix, site, controller association, configured country, channel use, firmware and power source. Compare the V-domain unit with the destination design before changing management platforms. Mixed-country estates should be separated into suffix-specific migration waves.

Controller migration test

Authorize one representative unit first. Confirm that the destination controller supports the 221E firmware path, retains the legal country setting, advertises the intended SSIDs and produces the expected radio status. A successful join alone does not prove regulatory suitability.

Hardware planning reference

FAP-221E is an indoor access point with two radios, four internal antennas, 2x2:2 streams, 802.11ac Wave 2 features, one 10/100/1000Base-T port and one USB port. Radio maxima are listed as 400 Mbps for 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps for 5 GHz. Power can be supplied by IEEE 802.3af PoE.

Post-migration acceptance

Keep the supplier's V-domain approval, destination-country record, controller configuration, firmware result, channel validation and rollback decision together. If the asset crosses a national boundary, stop and obtain a fresh suffix decision before installation.

Physical handover

Check mounting condition, cable link, PoE budget and asset label at each migrated location. Preserve exceptions separately so a project dashboard cannot hide an AP assigned to the wrong regulatory pool.
