FAP-221E-D regulatory approval record

FAP-221E-D is the D-domain orderable variant of Fortinet's indoor FortiAP-221E. Fortinet requires a country-code suffix for FortiAP procurement, so the deployment country must be approved before this SKU is ordered or assigned to a site.

Compliance intake

Start with the legal installation country, not an existing spare-pool label. Obtain local supplier confirmation that domain D is valid, attach that decision to the purchase record, and keep the exact suffix visible in receiving and asset systems. A generic FAP-221E entry is insufficient for regulated radio inventory.

221E platform evidence

The underlying access point is an indoor 802.11ac Wave 2 model with two 2x2:2 radios and four internal antennas. Fortinet publishes maximum rates of 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps on 5 GHz, one Gigabit Ethernet port, one USB port and IEEE 802.3af PoE. These shared hardware facts do not make other suffixes interchangeable.

Site authorization

Before the AP joins production, compare its chassis label with the approved D-domain bill of materials, configure the controller country for the actual site, confirm the allowed channel plan and preserve a post-join radio-status record. Isolate any unit whose order suffix and site approval disagree.

Installation evidence

Record ceiling, T-rail or wall mounting, PoE source and budget, firmware target, controller identity and intended SSIDs. A later country move requires a new regulatory decision rather than an assumption that the original approval follows the asset.
