N9K-C9396PX Hardware Identity

N9K-C9396PX identifies the Cisco Nexus 9396PX, a fixed 2-RU optical leaf with a selectable uplink module in the first-generation Nexus 9300. Cisco documents 48 1/10G SFP+ downlinks and an uplink module supporting up to 12 40G QSFP+ ports. Optional modules, optics, cables, licenses and support are included only when explicitly itemized.

Optical leaf module migration

Record all forty-eight SFP+ downlinks with optic code, wavelength, fiber pair and peer, then separately identify the six- or twelve-port 40G uplink module actually installed. A chassis PID alone cannot prove uplink quantity. Group circuits by migration wave and flag long-reach optics that have port-position or successor restrictions. Preserve vPC, routing and ACI/NX-OS operating-mode dependencies, and ensure the replacement has enough temporary ports to run old and new optical fabrics in parallel.
