N7K-C7018 - Cisco Nexus 7000 Series

Plan sixteen line-card positions, not eighteen

Cisco N7K-C7018 is the 25RU Nexus 7000 chassis with sixteen I/O module positions and two dedicated supervisor slots. Its exact ordering row includes fan trays and excludes power supplies. The base chassis is not a configured switch: the quote must identify the installed supervisors, fabric modules, line cards and power supplies.

Keep the spare chassis identity separate

The suffix matters when replacing an enclosure. Cisco lists N7K-C7018= as a spare chassis without fan trays or power supplies, whereas N7K-C7018 includes fan trays. Confirm the complete PID and delivered cooling assemblies instead of treating the two ordering rows as interchangeable.

Reserve lateral airflow and rear service access

The eighteen-slot platform uses side-to-side airflow. Supervisors and I/O modules are reached from the front; fabric modules, power supplies and fan trays are serviced from the rear. Its five fabric positions and four power-supply positions describe capacity, not supplied quantities. Check side clearance and rear access in the proposed rack layout.

Assess support before a legacy expansion

Cisco ended sale of this chassis on February 28, 2022. New service attachment ended February 28, 2023 and service-contract renewal ended May 29, 2026. The final support date is February 28, 2027 for applicable entitlements. Check the offered unit and existing contract with Cisco; the remaining calendar window does not imply that a new contract can still be purchased.
