Four slots with no separate fabric modules

Cisco N7K-C7004 is the Nexus 7000 four-slot chassis: two slots are for supervisors and two for I/O modules. It does not use fabric modules. The base ordering row includes a fan tray and cable management kit, with no power supply; it is distinct from the S2 and S2E supervisor bundles.

Review the explicit module exclusions

Cisco excludes N7K-SUP1, N7K-M132XP-12, N7K-M148GS-11, N7K-M148GT-11 and N7K-F132XP-15 from this chassis compatibility list. An existing Nexus 7000 card is therefore not automatically suitable for migration into the smaller enclosure. Check the exact intended supervisor and I/O modules with the required software release before reuse.

Plan a side-to-rear cooling route

The 7004 uses side-to-back airflow and provides front access to modules, power supplies and its fan tray. Verify that the cabinet can preserve the documented cooling path and front maintenance access. The two I/O positions are a physical limit; interface types and capacity depend on the selected cards, not the chassis name.

Treat replacement as a lifecycle decision

The exact chassis appears in Cisco’s end-of-life notice with sale ending February 28, 2022 and last support February 28, 2027, subject to applicable entitlement. The new-service attachment deadline was February 28, 2023 and contract renewal ended May 29, 2026. Confirm the offered system’s existing coverage and migration requirements before purchasing; a quotation does not establish renewed manufacturer support.
