N7K-C7004-S2 - Cisco Nexus 7000 Series

A supervisor bundle rather than the bare chassis

Cisco N7K-C7004-S2 combines the Nexus 7004 chassis with one SUP2 supervisor and excludes power supplies. The exact order is different from N7K-C7004-S2-R, which lists two SUP2 supervisors, and from the S2E variants. Verify the complete suffix on the quotation and packing list.

Separate the supplied supervisor from chassis capacity

The four-slot enclosure has two supervisor positions and two I/O module slots. The S2 bundle supplies one supervisor; a second position does not mean that redundancy hardware is included. Identify the intended I/O cards, power supplies and any separately proposed redundant supervisor, and check the resulting configuration against the software release.

Use the 7004 architecture when planning installation

The platform does not use separate fabric modules. Its airflow runs from the side toward the rear, with modules, power supplies and the fan tray accessible from the front. Do not add a fabric assembly to the bill of materials merely because larger Nexus 7000 systems use one. Preserve the cooling path and front replacement clearance in the cabinet.

Account for the bundle’s retirement dates

N7K-C7004-S2 appears in the specific Cisco 7004 retirement notice. Sale ended February 28, 2022; the final support date is February 28, 2027 for entitled equipment. Service-contract renewal ended May 29, 2026. Verify any existing coverage for the offered system and plan migration without assuming that purchasing the hardware creates new support entitlement.
