IE-2000U-4S-G Six-Port Fiber Switch

IE-2000U-4S-G is the fiber-oriented Cisco IE 2000U model: four 100Mb/s SFP module slots plus two 100/1000Mb/s SFP slots. It uses the LAN Base software image and has no copper access-port block.

Optics are part of compatibility

Build the port plan around exact Cisco-supported SFP PIDs, fiber type, wavelength, reach and connector. A slot speed label does not certify every optic. Record both link-end transceivers and optical budget before purchase, and do not substitute IE-2000U-4TS-G when four copper Fast Ethernet access ports are required.

No PRP on this six-port SKU

Cisco's IE 2000U PRP guide explicitly marks the 6-port group, including this model, as not supporting PRP. Select IE-2000U-16TC-G or another documented platform if the architecture requires parallel-redundancy channels; ordinary redundant links do not turn this SKU into a PRP RedBox.

Industrial installation

The IE 2000U chassis is fanless and exposes DC-A/DC-B power connections, protective ground and alarm interfaces. Verify supply voltage, grounding, enclosure thermal design, DIN-rail clearance, alarm wiring and approved ambient conditions from the hardware guide.

Lifecycle acceptance

Cisco ended sale on July 26, 2024 and lists July 31, 2029 as the last support date. Migration options include IE-3100-4T2S-E and IE-3100-8T4S-E, but their all-Gigabit port architecture is not a drop-in configuration copy. Receive against the exact PID, port map, optics plan, software entitlement and support horizon.
