FP8370-K9 Hardware Identity

FP8370-K9 is a physical scalable classic NGIPS appliance in the Cisco FirePOWER 8000 Series. It is security hardware, not an Ethernet switch and not a software-only entitlement. Cisco documents it as a 2U PG35 chassis designation with 45 Gbps IPS throughput in Cisco's model table.

Exact interface and chassis boundary

Memory: 384 GB RAM. Power: Redundant hot-swappable power supplies. Scale: Stack topology and serial membership must be proven at receiving.

Forty-five-gigabit zone allocation

Allocate inspected capacity by security zone and preserve the peak, packet-size and enabled-service assumptions for each zone. Verify that the five available module positions and received media match the topology. A throughput number without the module and stack inventory is not an deployable bill of materials.

Stack growth versus replacement

Compare the documented stacking step with the operational risk of extending an unsupported classic platform. Record synchronization, cabling and failure tests if the stack is retained. The decision file should show why migration to a supported firewall is or is not preferred over adding legacy capacity.

Lifecycle exception

If this retired platform remains in service, record the approved exception, compensating controls, replacement date and security owner. Purchasability in the secondary market is not supportability.

Monitoring placement

State whether each link is passive, inline or bypass-capable and identify asymmetric routing risks. Validate that both directions of the intended flow reach the same inspection policy.

Optics and media

List each copper, SFP, SR, LR or higher-speed handoff by position and counterpart. Validate reach, fiber type and supported module identity instead of assuming all ports share the same media.

Lifecycle and procurement decision

Past Cisco's June 30, 2024 last-support date for the 7000/8000 generation. Before purchase or reuse, reconcile the exact serial inventory, software and management compatibility, security-content availability, policy migration and replacement owner. Do not represent an end-of-support platform as a current Cisco-supported security control.
