FP8360-K9 Hardware Identity

FP8360-K9 is a physical scalable classic NGIPS appliance in the Cisco FirePOWER 8000 Series. It is security hardware, not an Ethernet switch and not a software-only entitlement. Cisco documents it as a 2U PG35 chassis designation with 30 Gbps IPS throughput in Cisco's model table.

Exact interface and chassis boundary

up to six network modules in any supported combination. Cisco documents up to two stacking-kit additions within the 8300 family.

Memory: 256 GB RAM. Power: Redundant hot-swappable power supplies. Scale: Stacking changes inspected capacity and failure domains and must be documented.

Thirty-gigabit module plan

Create a module-position schedule that identifies bypass mode, media, speed, optics and connected zone for each of the six positions. Test the 30-Gbps inspection target with those modules and the intended security policy. Do not accept an empty chassis description as equivalent to the operational sensor.

Incremental stack controls

If a stacking kit is present, record the member order, cables, serials, synchronization state and the traffic impact of losing one member. Define the maximum supported legacy footprint and a migration date; additional stacking must not become an open-ended substitute for lifecycle replacement.

Receiving inspection

Confirm chassis PID, serial, memory, storage, network modules, power supplies, rails and physical condition. Quarantine substitutions until the complete authorized bill of materials is reconciled.

Management compatibility

Verify the last supported device image and the exact management platform release before purchase; a reachable web interface is not proof that policy deployment and event ingestion remain supported.

Policy conversion

Export network variables, access control, intrusion settings, exclusions and event destinations, then map every control to the supported replacement rather than copying an obsolete configuration blindly.

Lifecycle and procurement decision

Past Cisco's June 30, 2024 last-support date for the 7000/8000 generation. Before purchase or reuse, reconcile the exact serial inventory, software and management compatibility, security-content availability, policy migration and replacement owner. Do not represent an end-of-support platform as a current Cisco-supported security control.
