C9115AXI-D is an internal-antenna Catalyst 9115 Wi-Fi 6 access point for the -D regulatory domain. Because the exact PID lacks EWC, procurement should treat it as a standard AP order whose controller mode and licenses require separate evidence.

Controller compatibility first

Identify the target controller and software release, then verify join compatibility, certificate time, regulatory configuration and entitlement. An AP recovered from another network may retain controller discovery or trust state that must be cleared under an approved process.

Integrated antenna coverage

The internal 2.4 GHz antenna has 3 dBi peak gain and the 5 GHz antenna 4 dBi, both omnidirectional in azimuth. Mounting orientation and obstruction control matter; do not attach external antennas to compensate for a poor AXI placement.

Full versus reduced PoE

An 802.3at source enables both 4x4 radios, 2.5G link and USB. An 802.3af source reduces the radios to 2x2, negotiates 1G and disables USB. Test the actual access-switch port rather than relying on its configured PoE class.

D-domain is a legal constraint

Confirm the D suffix against Cisco's current country-approval data. The AP hardware domain and controller country code jointly determine permitted channels and power; C9115AXI-F and C9115AXI-B are not automatic substitutes.

Record exact PID/serial, mounting and radome condition, Ethernet rate, negotiated PoE, both radio chains, software image, controller join and country code. Preserve the output with the site survey and switch-port record.
