ASR1006-10G-B16/K9 16K Broadband Entry Tier

ASR1006-10G-B16/K9 is Cisco's 16,000-session ASR 1006 broadband bundle. The published bundle composition is two ESP-10G modules, two RP1 route processors, SIP10, AISK9 and a 16K broadband license, with the ASR 1006 chassis and dual power supplies identified as the platform replacement reference.

Use the 16K tier deliberately

The PID is not merely a shorter name for ASR1006-10G-B24/K9. Its entitlement is 8,000 sessions lower, and it is materially different from the ASR1K6R2-20-B32/K9 RP2/ESP-20G 32K configuration. Size active and failover subscriber populations, growth reserve and feature overhead before selecting this tier; Cisco notes that practical scale depends on the RP/ESP combination and features enabled.

Translate service design into license demand

In LAC or LNS roles, Cisco counts established PPP sessions and does not separately count L2TP tunnels. In an L2TP Tunnel Switch role, the license requirement follows switched tunnel count. ISG and PMIPv6 MAG use cases also need the relevant feature rights plus session capacity. Document which counter drives acceptance testing.

Support is no longer available from Cisco

Cisco's lifecycle notice records 30 December 2013 as the last order date and 31 December 2018 as the last date of support for the affected bundle family. This page therefore describes a legacy installed-base component. Buyers should require traceable serials, configuration and license records, known hardware condition and a migration/rollback plan.

Acceptance focuses on entitlement and redundancy
