AIR-AP1815M-Z-K9C Z-Domain Receiving Gate

AIR-AP1815M-Z-K9C is the Z-domain, Mobility Express ordering form of Cisco's Aironet 1815m. It provides 2x2:2 802.11ac Wave 2 indoor wireless, integrated band-specific antennas, one PoE Gigabit Ethernet uplink and a higher-power coverage profile for dense buildings.

Z-domain channel exclusions matter

The Z record has eleven 2.4 GHz channels at 2.412-2.462 GHz. At 5 GHz Cisco lists eight channels at 5.180-5.320 GHz, eight at 5.500-5.700 GHz while excluding 5.600-5.640 GHz, and five at 5.745-5.825 GHz. Preserve that exclusion in the RF plan and verify the actual country's current approval rather than copying a Q-domain configuration.

Internal antenna placement

Cisco documents two integrated 2.4 GHz antennas at approximately 2 dBi peak gain and two integrated 5 GHz antennas at approximately 4 dBi. Survey wall or ceiling placement, penetration through dense-building materials and edge-of-cell behavior. Because the antennas are internal, a proposed external antenna or cable indicates the wrong product design.

Mobility Express recovery test

The K9C order ships with Mobility Express as its default option, but used inventory may have been converted or reimaged. Capture the running image, primary/subordinate role, management address, configured country, AP count and client count. Test configuration backup and recovery before replacing an operational primary AP.

Support and migration boundary

Cisco's lifecycle notice lists this exact Z-domain K9C PID and the Catalyst 9105AX family as the migration direction. Last support is 30 April 2027. AIR-AP1815M-Q-K9C uses different channel ranges and is not a substitute unless the destination approval, physical label and controller configuration all match that Q-domain identity.
