A9K-MPA-32X1GE Modular Port Adapter

A9K-MPA-32X1GE is a 32-port 1-Gigabit Ethernet Modular Port Adapter for Cisco ASR 9000 systems. Cisco documents SFP and CSFP module support and identifies the adapter as MACsec capable. It is an MPA, not a standalone line card or complete router.

Host line-card dependency

Select and verify a supported modular line card and chassis combination before procurement. Record host MOD card PID, slot/subslot, route processor, fabric, fan and IOS XR release. The MPA cannot be accepted by checking only the front-panel adapter PID.

Thirty-two-port media inventory

Define SFP or CSFP use for every port, including rate, wavelength, connector, peer, fiber/copper path and any bidirectional pair. Confirm the current Cisco transceiver matrix; do not infer that all SFP-shaped modules or arbitrary CSFP breakouts are supported.

MACsec qualification

If MACsec is required, document key-management method, cipher, peer support, replay settings, MTU impact and failover behavior. Test encryption and counters on representative links. The phrase “with MACsec” does not supply keys, policy or a complete security design.

Software and acceptance

Cisco lists IOS XR 64-bit support beginning with release 6.6.2. Verify exact host-card support for the deployed release, then test UDI, adapter state, all populated links, optics diagnostics, MACsec sessions where used, traffic errors and redundancy.

Package boundary

The PID includes the 32-port MPA only. It excludes host modular line card, optics, chassis, software licenses, MACsec key infrastructure and installation.
