Aruba 7200 Controller Model and Regional SKU Guide
Identify twelve Aruba 7200 controller order lines by platform, regulatory domain, FIPS/TAA status, power input and network interfaces before sourcing legacy hardware.
The full part number defines the controller variant
HPE Aruba Networking lists each regional and compliance variant as a separate orderable model. A shared 7200 family name does not make the part numbers interchangeable. Confirm the intended deployment country, standard or FIPS/TAA requirement, AC or DC power design, and platform capacity before a purchase order is released.
The final decision must use the complete PID printed on the chassis and quote. A regional controller should not be substituted merely because another 7200 model has the same port layout. FIPS/TAA variants also remain distinct from standard variants even when the underlying platform number matches.

The table preserves HPE's regional labels. “RW” means the rest-of-world order form in the official product reference; it is not a universal approval for every jurisdiction. The dual-personality ports listed for 7210, 7220 and 7240XM accept either copper Ethernet or SFP media as documented, not both media types simultaneously per port.
Lifecycle must be checked at PID level
HPE Aruba announced end-of-sale milestones for the 7210 and 7220 campus controllers, including JW748A and JW756A, with an end-of-sale date of February 29, 2024 and an end-of-support-life date of February 28, 2029. HPE also published separate lifecycle notices for 7240 and 7240XM variants. Do not apply one family date to every PID without checking the applicable notice.
Legacy availability does not establish software suitability. Record the current ArubaOS or AOS-10 architecture, Mobility Conductor or Central role, AP count, tunnel demand, licenses, optics, power feeds and high-availability design. Validate the exact platform against the current HPE support matrix before reuse or migration.
Controller order checklist
- Match the PID: reconcile quote, chassis label and asset record to the exact model above.
- Validate jurisdiction: confirm the deployment country accepts the listed regulatory domain.
- Preserve compliance: require the FIPS/TAA order line when the project specification calls for it.
- Check power: distinguish AC appliances from JW676A and other DC-powered variants; verify feeds and spare PSUs.
- Inventory media: list required SFP, SFP+ or 40 GbE optics separately and verify current compatibility.
- Audit licenses: export controller, AP-capacity and feature-license state; hardware identity does not prove entitlement.
- Review lifecycle: record end-of-sale, end-of-support and the supported software path for the exact PID.
- Plan migration: document configuration, certificates, AP adoption, high availability, rollback and acceptance tests.
