EX2300-24P PoE access-switch identity

Juniper EX2300-24P is the 24-port PoE/PoE+ model in the EX2300 fixed-switch family. The previous summary incorrectly identified it as a Cisco product. Juniper's hardware documentation explicitly lists 24 PoE-capable 10/100/1000BASE-T access ports for this chassis.

PoE model versus EX2300-24T

The letter suffix is procurement-critical: EX2300-24P supplies IEEE 802.3at PoE+ on its access ports, while EX2300-24T is the non-PoE AC model. The PoE hardware is also physically deeper and heavier: Juniper lists 12.2 inches depth and 9.89 pounds for EX2300-24P, compared with 10.2 inches and 7.25 pounds for EX2300-24T.

Uplinks and deployment role

Four 1/10GbE SFP/SFP+ ports provide uplink or Virtual Chassis connectivity. Optics are selected separately. Validate the intended Junos release, Virtual Chassis design, transceiver support and aggregate endpoint power requirement before replacing an existing access switch.

Receiving controls

Confirm the chassis label reads EX2300-24P, inspect all 24 copper ports, record Junos and serial information, and verify the rack kit and power cord. Test PoE class negotiation with representative endpoints instead of assuming that a non-PoE 24T unit can substitute for this model.
