S6730-S24X6Q combines 24 x 10GE with six 40GE uplinks

Huawei CloudEngine S6730-S24X6Q is a 24-port all-optical switch in the S6730-S family. It provides 24 x 10GE SFP+ interfaces and 6 x 40GE QSFP+ uplinks. This is not the 48-port S6730-H48X6C, and the letter/port suffix must remain intact through quotation, optic planning and receiving.

10GE access with 40GE aggregation

The native layout fits compact aggregation designs that need twenty-four 10GE links and multiple 40GE uplinks. Record each link's speed, optic PID, wavelength, fiber plant, breakout use and peer port. Huawei lists a 1U chassis with pluggable power and fan modules; those options and all transceivers must be confirmed on the bill of materials.

100GE is a controlled upgrade

Huawei states that the six uplinks can be upgraded from 40GE to 100GE through the applicable RTU license. The command reference also requires supported software, license activation and a restart for the rate change to take effect, with a warning that interface configuration may be lost. Treat 100GE as a migration procedure, not an unconditional base-port claim.

Configuration change gate

Before executing a port-type change, export the complete configuration and record current interface state, license validity and rollback steps. After restart, verify effective maximum rates and rebuild any affected interface settings before reconnecting production traffic.

Campus feature validation

Huawei lists VXLAN, BGP-EVPN, SVF, telemetry and security features for the S6730-S platform. Availability can depend on release and software package. Confirm the required feature license, interoperability and lifecycle status against the exact deployed software rather than using the family feature list as an automatic entitlement.
