S1730S-S24P4S-A 24-Port PoE+ Access Switch

S1730S-S24P4S-A combines 24 PoE+ 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces with four 1000BASE-X optical interfaces. Huawei also documents a console port, dedicated ETH management port and USB interface, making this a managed access model rather than an unmanaged 24-port PoE box.

PoE capacity

The built-in supply provides a 380 W PoE budget. Huawei states that this can fully power 24 IEEE 802.3af ports or 12 IEEE 802.3at ports. Build the real endpoint schedule from maximum and startup draw, leaving operational headroom rather than assuming all devices consume only their nominal average.

Optical uplinks

The four 1000BASE-X ports support media according to software release; Huawei notes FE optical module support from V200R021C00 onward. Match each optic, wavelength and distance to the installed release and fiber plant before ordering.

Fixed power and cooling

This model uses one built-in, non-pluggable power module and two internal fans. It does not provide field-replaceable PSU redundancy. Validate upstream power protection, airflow from left/front to right, acoustic limits and replacement strategy.

Commissioning

Record part number 98010901, serial and software; test console and ETH management access, representative PoE classes, all uplink media and the reset-control procedure before handing the switch to operations.
