Separate Wi-Fi access from the embedded cellular uplink

FWF-50G-5G-II is the FortiWiFi 50G order combining a desktop firewall, dual-radio wireless access and an embedded high-power cellular WAN module. Its exact specification column lists 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax. The Ethernet interfaces and mobile-network modem are additional connection types; Wi-Fi capability alone does not establish a working carrier subscription or cellular coverage.

Plan two SIM slots as active/passive operation

Fortinet identifies the modem as Telit Cinterion FN990A28-HP with two Nano SIM slots operating active/passive. That arrangement is not evidence of two simultaneously active cellular links. Confirm the operator, SIM provisioning, supported bands, APN settings and intended failover behavior for the destination network. The modem table says All Regions, but that modem scope does not by itself grant country-specific radio approval or guarantee service on every carrier.

Verify carrier readiness against the actual deployment

The manufacturer sheet lists PTCRB, ATT and Verizon with Yes entries and describes FirstNet capability. Its T-Mobile entry is Target Q4 26: a target is not completed certification. Treat those labels as the published module-level information, then obtain the current operator acceptance and device configuration for the quoted chassis. Neither a future target nor a supported band is a promise of signal strength, data rate or roaming availability.

Keep the five-port and storage boundaries explicit

The ordering row contains five Gigabit RJ45 ports, described as one WAN and four internal. The interface table assigns one WAN, three RJ45 and one FortiLink by default to those same five connections. There is one USB and one RJ45 console port. The FWF-50G-5G-II column has no internal SSD; storage-equipped wired FG-51G-5G and other radio variants have separate ordering rows. Define an external logging plan if persistent log retention is required.

Size the firewall separately from the cellular service

Published enterprise-mix results are up-to 2.25 Gbps IPS, 1.25 Gbps NGFW and 1.1 Gbps threat protection, with logging enabled. The separate UDP firewall test is 5/5/4 Gbps at 1518/512/64-byte packets. These are appliance laboratory measurements rather than promised cellular speeds. Match the inspection features and real application traffic, and confirm serial-specific firmware and support eligibility alongside the quoted hardware configuration.
