FG-51G-SFP-POE FortiGate 51G PoE+ NGFW with SFP Port and 64GB SSD

Select storage, powered copper and SFP in one chassis

FG-51G-SFP-POE is the wired FortiGate order combining 64 GB SSD storage, four Gigabit PoE+ RJ45 connections and one Gigabit SFP slot. It has no built-in wireless interface. Choose this exact order when both local storage and powered Ethernet are required; the similar FG-50G-SFP-POE row has no SSD, and ordinary FG-51G does not describe this SFP/PoE port arrangement.

Read the ordering allocation before drawing the network

The exact order lists three RJ45 PoE+ ports, one RJ45 PoE+ WAN, one additional RJ45 WAN and one SFP slot. This means five Gigabit copper connections, four of which can provide PoE+, plus the separate SFP connection. The hardware table also labels a PoE+ FortiLink interface by default; that role does not add another physical powered socket. Account for the powered WAN when allocating devices, and confirm the final port roles in the intended configuration. Verify a supported SFP and optical link design separately; the slot listing does not promise an included transceiver.

Budget the combined powered-device demand

The chassis provides 60 W total available PoE power. Fortinet limits loading on each PoE/+ port to 30 W under 802.3at. Four simultaneous 30 W loads would require 120 W, twice the shared budget. Add the requirements of all powered devices, including any device on the PoE+ WAN connection, rather than assigning the individual ceiling to every port at once. Confirm device startup and operating demand before selecting the power arrangement.

Install the PoE chassis with the correct supply

The SFP/PoE column specifies 54 VDC, supplied through an external adapter from 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Do not substitute the 12 V rating of the non-PoE SFP column. The fanless desktop enclosure measures 40.5 x 216 x 160 mm and operates at 0-40 degrees Celsius. Confirm the approved replacement assembly, separately listed power cable and mounting arrangement for this chassis before ordering accessories. The SSD capacity alone does not determine retention duration; choose a logging policy and external destination for the intended workload.

Size inspection from the enabled feature set

The published enterprise-mix benchmarks are up to 2.25 Gbps IPS, 1.25 Gbps NGFW and 1.1 Gbps threat protection, measured with logging enabled. They differ from the basic UDP firewall test of 5/5/4 Gbps for 1518/512/64-byte packets. The PoE allowance and SSD are separate hardware properties, not throughput multipliers. Match the selected security functions, traffic mix and log handling to the deployment, and confirm any firmware or serial-specific service eligibility in the quotation.
