One-Year IPS Baseline for FortiGate 50G-5G

FC-10-F50G5-108-02-12 is the 12-month FortiGuard Intrusion Prevention Service ordering line for one eligible FortiGate 50G-5G. It provides IPS service access and updates for supported deployment conditions. It does not include the firewall appliance, mobile-carrier service, antivirus, sandbox analysis, web filtering or FortiCare.

Map inspection before enabling blocks

Inventory internet-facing, inter-zone, VPN and branch applications that need exploit protection. Map each path to its FortiGate policy and IPS sensor, record encrypted-inspection dependencies, and verify signature-update health. Include both wired WAN and 5G failover paths so a routing change does not silently bypass the intended sensor.

Establish a controlled enforcement baseline

Start with documented severity and application scope. Generate approved validation events, confirm the responsible policy and log destination, then authorize blocking where evidence supports it. Assign owners to false positives and give every signature override or bypass an expiry date.

Use the short term as a suitability test

Track high-severity detections, prevented exploits, recurring sources, update failures, latency and open exceptions. Recheck capacity and policy behavior after FortiOS or branch-traffic changes. Before month 12, decide whether standalone IPS remains suitable or whether a broader bundle is justified.

Purchase evidence

Retain the exact SKU, serial, Fortinet account, region, start and expiry dates, protected-path inventory and accepted test result. Procure hardware, cellular airtime, malware services, filtering, support and RMA separately.
