Dell PowerSwitch N1548P 48-Port PoE+ Switch with 4x 10GbE SFP+

N1548P is the 48-port PoE+ N1500 model

Dell PowerSwitch N1548P combines 48 x 10/100/1000Mb PoE+ RJ45 ports with 4 x 10GbE SFP+ interfaces. Dell specifies an integrated 600W AC PSU and a 176Gbps full-duplex switch fabric. This is the high-density PoE model, not the non-PoE N1548 or 24-port N1524P.

Power planning must cover 48 endpoints

Each access port can negotiate PoE+ up to the documented per-port limit, but the installation still needs an aggregate endpoint budget. Record normal and startup draw, class, priority and redundancy for every access point, camera, phone or other powered device. Dell's maximum system-consumption figure includes a fully loaded PoE scenario and must not be confused with idle switch draw.

MPS1000 is a separate option

Dell lists the external MPS1000 for N1500 PoE+ models. It is sold separately and must be validated for the required additional or redundant power design, cable set and circuit. The base N1548P order does not imply an MPS1000 or its cabling.

Stacking consumes SFP+ resources

The N1500 architecture supports up to four units and 40Gbps full-duplex stacking; Dell states that two of the four integrated 10GbE ports can be used as stacking ports. Reserve those interfaces in the design so a stack proposal does not simultaneously promise all four as production uplinks.

Software and acceptance

Confirm the installed Dell Networking OS 6 release and follow Dell's supported upgrade path. At acceptance, test all powered-device classes, representative restart load, SFP+ optics or DACs, stack failover, VLANs, authentication and management access. Optional optics, DACs and MPS1000 require explicit order lines.
