N1524 Overview
N1524 is the compact 24-port non-PoE N1500 model
Dell PowerSwitch N1524 combines 24 x 10/100/1000Mb RJ45 access ports with 4 x 10GbE SFP+ interfaces. It uses a 40W integrated AC PSU and provides 128Gbps full-duplex switching with a 128Mpps forwarding rate. It must not inherit the PoE claims of N1524P.
Use for data-only access
The 24 copper ports do not supply endpoint power. Document adapters or injectors for powered devices and verify that their location, circuit and maintenance ownership fit the branch design. This boundary is the primary procurement difference from N1524P.
Rack and energy profile
Dell lists a 1RU chassis measuring 257mm deep, approximate 3kg weight and 30.2W maximum switch consumption. Verify I/O-to-PSU airflow, rack clearance and operating environment; optional optics and external power hardware alter the full installation bill.
RPS and stack allocation
RPS720 is Dell's separately ordered redundant-power option for the non-PoE N1524. For stacking, two of the four 10GbE ports can form the 40Gbps full-duplex stack path across up to four units. Record the port role before buying uplink optics or DACs.
Branch acceptance
Check the installed Networking OS 6 version, configuration backup and supported firmware transition. Validate all copper ports, SFP+ links, stack behavior where used, VLANs, routing, authentication and management. Do not imply RPS720, optics or DACs are bundled.
