Dell PowerSwitch N1548 48-Port Gigabit Switch with 4x 10GbE SFP+

N1548 is the 48-port non-PoE N1500 switch

Dell PowerSwitch N1548 supplies 48 x 10/100/1000Mb RJ45 data ports and 4 x 10GbE SFP+ interfaces. It is explicitly non-PoE, with a 100W integrated AC PSU, 176Gbps full-duplex fabric and 164Mpps forwarding rate. Do not substitute N1548P power specifications.

Endpoint power is an external dependency

Access points, cameras and phones connected to N1548 require local adapters, approved injectors or another documented power source. Keep that power equipment in the bill of materials; a 48-port data design is incomplete if attached devices depend on switch-supplied PoE.

Shallower chassis and lower switch draw

Dell specifies the non-PoE chassis at 257mm deep and a maximum switch power consumption of 44.6W. Confirm rack depth, airflow from I/O panel toward the PSU, circuit and cooling. These values describe the switch, not endpoint power supplied elsewhere.

RPS720 and stacking choices

The external RPS720 is the separately sold redundant-power option for non-PoE N1500 models. Up to four units can form a 40Gbps full-duplex stack using two 10GbE ports. Reserve the chosen ports and verify RPS/stack cabling rather than assuming all four SFP+ interfaces remain uplinks.

Migration gate

Confirm the Dell Networking OS 6 baseline and supported upgrade path. Test VLANs, authentication, Layer 3 Lite routes, optics or DACs, stack failover and management access. RPS720, transceivers and DACs are separate components unless quoted.
