N1524P delivers PoE+ on 24 Gigabit access ports

Dell PowerSwitch N1524P provides 24 x 10/100/1000Mb PoE+ RJ45 ports and 4 x 10GbE SFP+ interfaces. Its 24-port density, 128Gbps full-duplex fabric and 128Mpps forwarding rate distinguish it from the 48-port N1548P while retaining the same integrated 600W PSU class.

Build a 24-port endpoint budget

Map each powered endpoint to a port and record its negotiated class, normal/startup consumption, priority and failure impact. The Dell maximum-consumption value represents a high-load PoE system envelope, not ordinary idle consumption. Confirm the circuit, C15 cord and thermal plan against the actual endpoint mix.

Use external power only when designed

The optional MPS1000 can support N1500 PoE+ power expansion or resiliency, but Dell sells it separately. Include the exact accessory and cable in the bill of materials and verify how loss of internal or external power affects endpoint delivery.

Choose uplink or stack roles explicitly

Four integrated 10GbE SFP+ ports support high-speed uplinks, and two can be allocated to a four-unit, 40Gbps full-duplex stack. Document which ports serve stacking, optics or DAC uplinks; the same interfaces cannot fulfill conflicting roles.

Branch acceptance workflow

Validate the current Dell Networking OS release, configuration backup and upgrade path. Test PoE restart behavior, uplink reach, stack failover where used, VLANs, LLDP-MED, 802.1X and management access before moving production endpoints. Optics, DACs and MPS1000 are optional components unless expressly quoted.
