N9K-C9508-B2 is Cisco's Nexus 9508 bundle populated with six fabric modules, alongside one supervisor, three power supplies, two system controllers and three fan trays. Its six-fabric configuration is the purchasing distinction from N9K-C9508-B1. The PID does not by itself identify included line cards, optics or a second supervisor.

Verify a homogeneous fabric set

Record all six fabric-module PIDs, hardware revisions and serials. Cisco requires fabric modules installed in a chassis to be of the same type, and line-card compatibility depends on the fabric generation. Check fabric-plane health, active paths and degraded-capacity behavior, then size the switch from the actual line-card/fabric matrix rather than mixing capacity claims from another generation.

Audit resilience beyond fabric count

Six fabric modules do not make every subsystem redundant. The bundle table lists one supervisor and three power supplies, so identify any separately supplied second supervisor and additional PSU before claiming control-plane or grid redundancy. Validate both system controllers, three fan trays, input feeds, configured power redundancy and environmental alarms.

Commission the modular chassis

Inspect all eight line-card bays and blanking panels, confirm rack depth, grounding, airflow and cable management, and retain a PID-level as-built record. Test supervisor state, controllers, fan trays, PSUs and each fabric module before adding traffic. Planned line cards, optics, NX-OS or ACI release and licenses must pass the current Cisco compatibility matrix.
