N77-C7706-B36S3E-R Dual-SUP3E Full-Fabric Bundle

N77-C7706-B36S3E-R is Cisco's exact Nexus 7706 chassis order with two Supervisor 3E modules and six Fabric-3 modules. The -R order supplies the second supervisor for control-plane redundancy, while power supplies, line cards and optics remain separate decisions.

Both redundancy planes are populated

The two SUP3E modules can form an active/standby supervisor pair, and six FAB3 modules fill the chassis fabric positions. Cisco specifies 464 Gbps per slot from each FAB3 and up to 2.64 Tbps per slot when all six are active. Acceptance must still include a controlled supervisor switchover and a fabric-module failure test.

Verify the SUP3E generation

Supervisor 3E uses an eight-core 2 GHz Intel Broadwell-DE processor, 64 GB DDR4, a 240 GB SSD and 4 GB eUSB storage, with Cisco NX-OS 8.3 or later support. Both supervisors must be the same type and should have compatible hardware revisions, EPLD and software before a saved configuration is loaded.

The bundle is not a complete forwarding system

The 9RU Nexus 7706 has four I/O slots and four PSU bays. This PID populates supervisor and fabric positions, but it does not establish user-facing ports, optics, power supplies or facility feeds. Validate the intended line-card family, airflow, rack depth, power budget and independent-feed behavior separately.

Lifecycle and migration gate

Cisco's exact bundle notice identifies end of sale on 12 October 2023 and last support on 31 October 2028, with Nexus 9500 or 9800 platforms identified as migration options. Procurement should include software entitlement, supportability, spares and a dated migration path.

Compare N77-C7706-B36S3E only when a single supervisor is acceptable; N77-C7706-B33S3E-R preserves dual supervisors but includes only three FAB3 modules.
