ASR1001X-5G-K9 Licensed 5 Gbps Base Bundle

ASR1001X-5G-K9 combines the fixed ASR 1001-X chassis with a 5 Gbps software-enforced throughput level. Cisco's exact ordering description identifies a K9 AES base bundle with six built-in 1G interfaces; it does not describe the SEC or VPN feature package.

Throughput is a license state

The ASR 1001-X integrated ESP supports 2.5, 5, 10 and 20 Gbps levels depending on the installed software license. Confirm the current state with show platform hardware throughput level, retain license evidence and reload history, and do not infer 20 Gbps from the shared chassis alone.

Port entitlement differs from 20G

The 5G order lists six built-in 1G interfaces. The ASR1001X-20G-K9 bundle includes the 20G performance state and two 10G ports. A field upgrade requires the supported Cisco throughput entitlement and validation after reload; the similar chassis name is not proof that those interfaces are licensed for use.

Base K9 is not a security bundle

K9 AES capability does not make this SKU an ASR1001X-5G-SEC or ASR1001X-5G-VPN package. Record the IOS XE image, technology-package licenses and any separately purchased security entitlements before accepting firewall, IPsec or VPN requirements.

Lifecycle acceptance

Cisco ended sale of ASR1001-X hardware and licenses on August 1, 2022, lists IOS XE 17.9 as the final supported IOS XE release, and sets July 31, 2027 as the last support date. Verify active coverage, software path, spare strategy and migration plan before procurement.
