AIR-CT7510-2K-K9 2,000-AP Configuration

AIR-CT7510-2K-K9 is Cisco's exact Flex 7510 controller PID for a capacity ceiling of up to 2,000 Cisco access points. The 2K element identifies controller AP capacity; it is not client count, throughput, software release or evidence that every Cisco AP generation is compatible.

Distributed-site capacity case

The 2,000-AP tier is relevant to a large FlexConnect estate where branches share centralized control. Build the count from deployed APs, approved growth, staging units and failover demand. Preserve a site-by-site inventory so the controller total can be reconciled after acquisitions, branch closures or AP replacement.

Legacy software compatibility

Capture the current controller release, AP PIDs, regulatory domains and branch switching/authentication dependencies before purchase or reuse. Validate each AP family in Cisco's compatibility information for the installed release; a 2,000-AP license does not expand software support for later access points.

Failure-domain and migration test

Two thousand managed APs create a materially larger outage domain than the 1K configuration. Document backup, recovery, redundancy behavior, WAN isolation and FlexConnect local-survivability tests. Migration planning must map WLANs, policy, authentication, site grouping, AP support and capacity to the successor architecture rather than treating a controller swap as a like-for-like appliance change.

Lifecycle status

Cisco records end of sale on April 10, 2017 and end of support on April 30, 2022 for the Flex 7510 family. The support page names the 5520 Wireless Controller as the historical replacement, but that product has its own lifecycle; obtain a current Cisco-supported migration recommendation for any new design.
