AIR-CT2504-25-K9 combines the Cisco 2504 controller hardware with a 25-access-point license capacity. It is different from the LIC-CT2504-25A or L-LIC-CT2504-25A capacity adders, which do not supply another controller. The 25-AP figure describes the starting managed-AP capacity of this order.
The chassis provides four 1-Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet ports and an RJ-45 console connection. Cisco documents two PoE ports for directly connected access points and platform throughput of up to 1 Gbps. Additional licensed capacity can take the platform to 75 APs; that ceiling is not the included capacity of this 25-AP order.
Match each access-point model to the controller software before choosing this legacy controller as a replacement. An AP count alone does not establish that a newer AP generation can join. For an existing deployment, retain its controller configuration and verify the installed license inventory before changing the hardware.
Cisco ended sale on April 18, 2018 and lists April 30, 2023 as the last date of support. This is an ended-support platform, not a currently supported new-generation controller. When evaluating a replacement, compare supported APs, licensing and migration requirements rather than assuming an existing configuration transfers unchanged.
