AIR-AP1852I-Z-K9C Z-Domain Mobility Express AP

AIR-AP1852I-Z-K9C is Cisco's Z-domain, internal-antenna Aironet 1852i with a factory Mobility Express image. It combines 3x4:3 at 2.4 GHz, 4x4:4 at 5 GHz, a PoE Gigabit uplink and a second Gigabit AUX interface for link aggregation.

Z-domain four-block spectrum

Cisco lists 2.412-2.462 GHz, eight channels from 5.180-5.320 GHz, eight from 5.500-5.700 GHz excluding 5.600-5.640 GHz, and five from 5.745-5.825 GHz. Verify country approval and preserve this exact channel plan; AIR-AP1852I-D-K9C has only two 5 GHz blocks.

Primary-image acceptance

The K9C suffix identifies a factory Mobility Express image. A used AP may no longer retain its original embedded-controller role, so capture software, configured country, primary/subordinate state, AP inventory and configuration export. Prove primary election, AP adoption and rollback in a staged WLAN.

PoE and LAG boundary

Under 802.3af, Cisco disables the AUX Ethernet and USB ports on the 1852i. Test the PoE source, main link and AUX link before promising LAG. Record whether the negotiated power mode exposes the complete dual-port design.

Lifecycle exposure

Cisco ended sale on 1 May 2022, ended software maintenance on 1 May 2023 and lists 30 April 2027 as last support. Catalyst 9115AX is the migration family. A procurement record should include entitlement, certificate/join testing and replacement timing.
