JX953A FIPS/TAA AP-207 Identity

JX953A is HPE Aruba Networking's FIPS/TAA-compliant AP-207 order line. HPE identifies it as an indoor controller-based 802.11n/ac, dual-radio, integrated-antenna AP with 2x2:2 radios. The compliance suffix is the defining procurement distinction from standard JX952A.

Compliance evidence gate

Before accepting a unit for a regulated project, match the chassis label and invoice to JX953A and retain the applicable HPE declaration, country-of-origin evidence and project compliance record. Do not infer FIPS/TAA status from the AP-207 family name, enclosure or firmware alone; the exact product number must be preserved.

Controller-based deployment

HPE lists JX953A under controller-based access points, not the separate IAP-207 Instant order lines. Validate the Mobility Controller or managed ArubaOS architecture, supported software release, regulatory configuration and AP capacity before deployment. It should not be planned as a stand-alone Instant virtual controller.

Power and mounting order

HPE QuickSpecs instruct buyers to add a PoE injector or AC adapter and state that flat ceiling-rail adapters ship with the AP. Confirm the intended 802.3af power source, switch budget, cable path and any alternate mounting kit. An AP-only quote is incomplete when the site cannot provide compatible PoE.

Legacy acceptance and replacement

For reuse or replacement, retain serial, exact PID, controller release, AP license/capacity, configuration, mounting and power evidence. Test discovery, image download, regulatory domain, radio operation and controller failover. For a new design, obtain a current HPE-supported migration recommendation instead of assuming AP-207 software support matches newer AP generations.
