JW635A Exact SKU Identity

JW635A is the RW FIPS/TAA version of the Aruba 7005 branch mobility controller. It is not the standard RW model JW633A and should not be substituted with the US, IL or JP regulatory variants. HPE's official ordering guide identifies this exact SKU as a four-port 10/100/1000BASE-T controller supporting up to 16 APs and 1K clients.

Interfaces, Power and Software Baseline

The Aruba 7005 installation guide documents four auto-sensing Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports, one RJ45 console port, one Mini-USB console port and one USB 2.0 interface. The unit can use a 12 V DC adapter or PoE power on port 0; USB availability differs between 802.3af and 802.3at power. ArubaOS 6.4.1.0 or later is the published minimum baseline.

Lifecycle and Replacement Check

Aruba announced end of sale for the 7005 family on October 31, 2022 and end of support life on October 31, 2027. The official notice names R1B26A, the Aruba 9004 RW TAA Branch Gateway, as the recommended replacement for JW635A. A legacy-system purchase should therefore confirm software support, licenses, hardware condition and the remaining support route.

• Match the full JW635A part number when RW regulatory scope and FIPS/TAA compliance are required.
• Do not substitute JW633A, which is the standard non-FIPS/TAA RW 7005 SKU.
• Confirm the AP-license requirement, controller software release and migration plan before ordering.
• Verify whether the 12 V adapter, console cable and any mounting accessories are included.
