QFX10000-RE Exact Component Identity

QFX10000-RE is the Routing and Control Board for Juniper QFX10008 and QFX10016 chassis. The RCB combines Routing Engine and control-plane functions, including environmental management, routing protocols, component communication, clocking, alarms and logging.

Documented capability and exclusion

Juniper documents a quad-core 2.5 GHz CPU, 32 GB SDRAM and a 50 GB or 100 GB onboard SATA SSD; a chassis can use one RCB or two for redundancy. Boundary: This is not a line card or complete chassis. Removing the sole RCB shuts down a base system; redundant replacement still triggers control-plane election and restart behavior.

Control-plane redundancy acceptance

Confirm whether the chassis has one or two RCBs, identify primary and backup roles, and capture configuration, alarms, software version and SSD state before replacement. In a base system, install a second board or take the chassis offline according to Juniper's procedure. Verify management interfaces and control-plane recovery after insertion.
