PTX10016 is Juniper's 21RU modular Packet Transport Router for core and peering environments. The hardware guide describes sixteen horizontal line-card positions and 230.4Tbps per chassis for the documented generation. Those figures identify the platform; they do not describe an unconfigured chassis as ready for traffic.
Juniper separates systems using JNP10016-SF from those using JNP10016-SF3. The first follows Junos OS documentation, while SF3 systems use Junos OS Evolved. Record the installed SIB model before selecting control boards, line cards, software images or sparing policy.
Each routing and control board combines routing-engine and chassis-control functions. Base configurations have one RCB; redundant configurations have two. A platform-only request must state whether the design needs a second RCB and how control-plane failover will be tested.
For positions zero through fifteen, document line-card PID, fabric support, port mode, optic or cable PID and the required Junos release. Blank positions, cooling continuity and future-growth reservations belong in the acceptance record.
This page describes the PTX10016 platform. It does not assert a configured bill of materials, stock condition, price, optics, licenses or active support. A quotation must enumerate every installed and spare FRU.
