EX-SFP-1GE-LH 70km Point-to-Point Optic

EX-SFP-1GE-LH is Juniper's Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LH optical transceiver for a conventional two-fiber single-mode link. The SFP uses a duplex LC PC/UPC connector, transmits at 1550nm and is specified for a 70km reach class. Juniper maps the model to part number 740-011612 and provides digital optical monitoring.

High transmit power changes short-link design

Juniper documents -2 to 5dBm launch power, -25dBm receiver sensitivity and -3dBm maximum receiver input. Because this is a long-reach, high-power optic, a short fiber path can overdrive the receiver. Calculate actual loss and add an engineered attenuator when required; never select attenuation from distance alone.

No CWDM channel is implied

This module is not a colored CWDM optic. It supports a standard 1550nm LH point-to-point circuit and does not replace EX-SFP-GE80KCW1510, which must occupy the 1510nm mux/demux channel. If the route contains passive CWDM equipment, use the exact wavelength-specific design rather than treating every 1550nm-class SFP as interchangeable.

Compatibility and acceptance

Check Juniper HCT for the exact host, interface module and Junos release. Before service activation, record both endpoint PIDs and serials, inspect both LC fibers, verify polarity and measure transmit/receive power. Retain DOM temperature, voltage, optical levels and error counters as the circuit baseline.

Procurement boundary

The transceiver does not include the long-haul fiber plant, patch leads, attenuators or host switch. Quote those items separately and require the installer to provide an end-to-end loss test. A generic SFP EEPROM match is not equivalent to Juniper qualification and support.
