EX-SFP-10GE-DAC-5M is Juniper part 740-031838, a 5-meter passive 10GbE SFP+ Twinax assembly. Juniper specifies a heavier 24 AWG conductor for this length, unlike the 30-AWG 1m and 3m versions.

Longer copper-route decision

Use 5m only when the surveyed in-rack or nearby-rack route requires it and remains appropriate for direct-attach copper. The thicker cable changes bundle size and connector loading. If optical isolation or greater reach is required, select a supported optical design rather than extending this passive DAC.

Rack and bend control

The minimum bend radius remains 1 inch, but route the 24-AWG cable with adequate support, wider pathway capacity and strain relief. Avoid tight coils and ensure the cable cannot obstruct fans, removable modules or service access. Compare EX-SFP-10GE-DAC-3M when 3m provides sufficient service loop.

Compatibility is not length-only

Check Juniper HCT for part 740-031838 on both endpoint platforms, exact line cards and installed Junos releases. A supported 1m DAC does not automatically prove 5m support on the same interface.
