Identify the line card, not the chassis
Juniper lists ACX7509-FPC-16C as the ACX7509 16-port 40/100GbE line card. The Ethernet interface guide identifies 16 QSFP28 ports. This order is a component for the ACX7509 chassis and does not imply a complete router, power supplies, optics or a software entitlement package.
Choose the slot before counting active ports
The exact ACX7509-FPC-16C table lists ports 0 through 15 in slots 1 and 5. In slots 0, 2, 3, 4 and 6 it lists ports 0, 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 and 13. Slot 7 lists ports 0, 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 12. Other port positions are not supported in those lower-bandwidth slots. Juniper's hardware guide notes that port 13 in slot 7 is reserved for the PTP function. A sixteen-port faceplate is therefore not a promise of sixteen active 100GbE links in any slot.
Configure breakout with the neighboring port
The interface guide describes 100Gbps to four 25Gbps and 40Gbps to four 10Gbps channelization using suitable breakout cables. Its permitted port positions and neighboring-port rules still apply. For example, when channelizing port 0, port 1 must also be channelized or configured unused; mixing adjacent channelized and non-channelized operation can raise a configuration alarm. Check the actual Junos OS Evolved release, slot and interface plan before selecting optics or cables.
Read platform capacity and the diagram in context
Juniper's ACX7509 datasheet presents this card with up to 1.6Tbps capability. The hardware guide, which uses the JNP-FPC-16C name, distinguishes slots 1 and 5 from the other chassis slots. Use the exact active-port table for the installed ACX7509-FPC-16C instead of treating a maximum platform figure as uniform per-slot capacity. The official Figure 2 drawing retains its JNP-FPC-16C label and status indicators; it is a Series installation reference, not the offered unit photograph or a supplied-parts list.
